This site contains applications but
you will still need to get a fingerprint card at the
Sheriff's office.
As of 12/4/07 the
sheriff's website has changed. At this time their FAQ
page is not working, but they no longer state
that non residents will not be issued licenses under
any circumstances.
Note: As of 12/20/06 the
Marion County Sheriff's website lists the following
FAQ about non resident licenses:
If I'm a resident of another
state, but regularly travel through Oregon, will Marion
County issue me a Concealed Handgun License?
No. It is not the policy of the Marion County Sheriff
to issue Concealed Handgun Licenses to anyone who is
not a resident of Marion County. Other Oregon counties
may have different policies, especially those which
border other states. Check with them.
NOTE:
As of 6/3/03 Marion County was still telling applicants
that they may not carry in "school zones."
In their warning, they "quoted" Federal and
Oregon laws which directly contradict their claim.

Note:
As of 6/5/03, Judy Mason at the Marion County Sheriff's
Department informs us that this policy was the result
of the errors of a former employee and they no longer
include the restrictions in their applications.
Even
Newer Note: As of 2/10/04, the Marion
County Sheriff's Office web site was STILL saying that
you had to be a resident of the county for six months
before applying for a CHL. This
is something they admitted (in writing) was not true,
several years ago. If you are a US Citizen, there is
no minimum residency requirement
for a CHL.

As of 2/13/04 the above incorrect requirement had been
removed from the Marion County Sheriff's web site.
As of 8/2/05, the Marion County Sheriff's website
contains a message that licensed carry at airports is
illegal. This
is not true.
As of 12/20/06 this has been corrected.
