Applications can be turned in on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 - 9:00 am.

NOTE: As of 2/17/06, the website listed below contained requirements for an Oregon CHL that appear nowhere in Oregon law.

The page states that you may NOT apply for a CHL if you:

"have a history that shows confrontation with others such as family or neighbors, have a history of conflict with police officers, ..., documented problems involving alcohol and/or drug abuse."

What is meant by "history of conflict with police officers" or "documented problems with alcohol" is not defined and is not in Oregon law. Furthermore, the site also states that three references are required. Oregon law calls for two. The website also states that if you change your address within Polk County, you must contact the sheriff within 30 days. In fact Oregon law has no time limit on change of address within the state. Please note that Polk County does NOT send out renewal notices. You must keep track of your CHL's expiration date.
